Corvara
A ski paradise on the SellarondaAt an altitude of 1,568 metres, Corvara is a sunny and charming destination along the Sellaronda. Nestled at the foot of the Sassongher, it serves as an excellent base for hikers, mountaineers, cyclists, and winter sports enthusiasts. The village, home to around 1,352 residents, is characterised by traditional farmhouses, the Church of S. Caterina consecrated in 1452, inviting restaurants, and charming boutiques.
Winter sports have a deep-rooted history in Corvara. The first ski school in Val Badia was established here in the 1930s. In 1938, a sledge lift to Col Alto was built, which was replaced by Italy’s first chairlift in 1946, opening in 1947. Today, modern lift systems transport winter sports enthusiasts to the numerous surrounding pistes, which offer ideal conditions for skiers of all ages and skill levels.
Be sure to include a tour of the Sellaronda during your winter holiday - this world-famous ski circuit through the Dolomites can be explored in either direction around the Sella massif. Access to all lift systems within the extensive Dolomiti Superski area requires a Dolomiti Superski pass.
